Amy E. Slaton

Amy E. Slaton is Professor Emerita of History at Drexel University. She holds a PhD in the History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania.  Her work has centered on ascriptions of human difference in the history of science and engineering as expressed through education, labor practices, and other materializations of race, gender, sexuality and disability; including through historical episodes of standardization and instrumentation. With Tiago Saraiva, Slaton co-edited the journal History+Technology from 2017-2026. She is currently writing on the history of “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” in U.S. technoscientific learning and work, tracing its insufficiency for the address of anti-Blackness and other violent enactments of U.S. wage capitalism.
